Dell iDRAC6 – Reset Password

If you happen to forget your iDRAC Password you can change it from within the running OS. First you need to install Dell OpenManage and then you can use this command to change your password:

/opt/dell/srvadmin/bin/idracadm config -g cfgUserAdmin -i 2 -o cfgUserAdminPassword “NEWPASSWORD”

Debian Squeeze Highlights

My personal highlights of this great Debian release are the availability of a special non-free netinst CD including the firmware needed by all those nasty Broadcom NICs and the possibility to just cat any CD image onto an USB stick for installation. No more messing about with “hd-media”.

VBoxAdm Setup

The latest issue of the german Linux Magazin had a nice article about VBoxAdm.

They critisized that the installation on OpenSuSE is painful and I think they are right. The development of VBoxAdm is done on Debian and I have little knowledege about other distributions. If someone would be able to help out with packaging for OpenSuSE and other distributions that’d be great.

Meanwhile I’m working on a improved setup script that will handle most of the setup and make installing and setting up VBoxAdm a breeze.
